I handle alcohol pretty well, so i'll have to give some of these a try one day.

I have grown a sort of disdain for cookbooks with no author, if only because the recipes from books I have without authors have not been that good. I also find it agitating because those books were commercial first and foremost, they were there to promote kitchen stuff or an ingredient product, and the focus tried to be on the product it should be selling, or on the theme, and they want people of associate the food with the brand, product or organisation, not the individuals who, in theory, came together to make it. I try to keep in mind that some books are collaborations and thus having all the names could be a hasslenut, but even the book on lamb I have, which is a big collaboration, have a "leader" that shows on the front, and all names are mentioned inside. Which is why it agitates me that this book doesn't have a name for the author(s), because even though all these themed cookbooks are promoting a product, this feels even more so when they do not give us a name to the authors and they try to keep the focus 100% on the product, ie Star Wars and Disney. They don't want any association with the individuals that made the book, it all should hinge on the brand product (like everything Disney does nowadays). Perhaps that is also why it is not about lore but about aesthetics, I don't know. It's not some conspiracy theory, just my thoughts on that. I am glad the Galaxy's Edge cookbook had the author's name in it.

I love tiny jam containers as shot glasses - I'm probably going to do this now. I'm a bit bummed that the drink recipes were pretty standard bar fare, popcorn in particular looked fire though. Maybe it'd still be good for a Batman fan that likes cocktails though if they don't already have a basic book? You should also give an old-fashioned a second try! The garnishes are actually extremely important, but the alcohol you choose going in is huge for the flavor. IMO rum is not the choice here without changing the recipe more.

I can think of just one word that would relate the new character to the main story... Reach! Have him survive, Reach! Maybe the cookbook is his attempt to dive deeper into his work and passion to escape the ptsd of reach. Hell, have him either in relation to or maybe have 1 or 2 run-ins with the insurrectionists. Maybe he needed a rare ingredient, and the UNSC wasn't willing to transport it. Use small sections of the book to act as a personal journal to catalog his thoughts and feelings on rumors of Spartans because, yes, oni kept it under wraps, but there were still rumors. Maybe have a couple of sketches on what he thinks Spartans look like based on the rumors....something....anything!? I read from another comment that this book was apparently rushed, and that makes sense. Otherwise, this would reflect, not just bad, but lazy writing....

I can answer a few of the questions and comments made. When using a shaker, it doesn't matter what side you pour in. Usually people use the larger one though. White rum is usually not aged, simply pulled straight from the still before bottling. Over-proof refers to any spirit bottled at a higher than usual threshold. Usually 151 proof. Spirits are proofed by their quantity of alcohol versus water. Usually twice as much as what the ABV is. For example, I have a bottle of Diplomatico on hand, it ranks in at 40% ABV, ergo has a proof of 80. The usual for most. You can downscale the proof of a rum by adding in proper rations of water. So an 80 proof can be brought down to a 40 proof by simply mixing 1-1 water and rum. Overproofs are usually used to either pack a punch, or carry a more concentrated flavor in a smaller package.

I appreciate the honesty on your part. I saw this book awhile back on Amazon myself and while I love Batman...I'm not much of an alcohol guy so I just skipped over it since I knew I'd get nothing from it since it was all about alcoholic drinks.
